FAQ

Wild With Walshe is a platform created by Alan Walshe, dedicated to sharing the inspiring world of sustainable environmental practices. This includes environmental educational walks, woodturning, and gardening.

Alan Walshe is a native of County Waterford who grew up in Woodstown. His passion for the outdoors began with angling, and he later became an experienced guide covering coastal foraging, natural heritage, and local history.

Alan started guiding in Tramore in 2004. His passion lies in environmental interpretation, taking scientific information and making it relatable to everyone in a fun and interesting way. He strongly believes that nature conservation starts with education.

Alan started woodturning in 2019 after completing a course in woodland management and creativity. He uses natural windfall native timber and upcycles topical woods, focusing on crafting functional items designed to a high standard.

The woodturning designs are based on the 13 months of the Celtic Tree Calendar, which can be personalized. The emphasis is on creating crafts that are not only beautiful but also serve a purpose.

The guided tours are mainly based in Tramore, Co. Waterford, offering diverse habitats and coastal heritage. The walks are seasonal, with opportunities for winter bird watching walks on the back strand and networking with national interest groups.

Foraging tours cover the Rocky Sea Shore, Intertidal Lagoon, and Hedgerows. Clients get to experience free, natural food, tasting, smelling, and seeing what nature has to offer.

Gardening services focus on small urban gardens, including maintenance tasks like weeding, grass cutting, and general cleaning. Traditional meadow creation using traditional tools is also offered, and the emphasis is on avoiding chemical weed management.
